Birthday Month

I not only jumped out of the no spend freezer...I locked that thing up with padlocks!  (will go back in for June).  BUT it is my birthday month, so that is 'allowed'...riiiiiiight??

I started of early with this purchase of TGF Anya stamps from a Facebook Swap and Sell Group...

found this at a Marshalls and now it is my Anya and Ian stamp collection holder....will need another, as my Unity stamp collection is also growing by leaps and bounds.  and CTMH and Fun Stamper's Journey and Newton's Nook...yikes

So went a little shopping crazy, but I only took pics of the 'bigger items'.
The haul of Unity stamps...hey, it was a one day half price sale!!

A sampling of the Oxide Distress inks I've been hearing so much about

and an 'indulgence'...MINC.  I did not figure on getting this, till I saw and HSN demo...and I figured...its my birthday..and the granddaughters are gonna love why not?

I got to spend last Sunday making cards from the Fun Stamper's Journey Bloom kit....

and ta da...using something very old.  Last month I posted a pic of a layout I was struggling with...

I knew I wanted these papers, but could not put them together...then I pulled out my old corregator...and

the final layout.  Instead of the metal embellies, found some wood.

Went to a crop earlier this month...BUT all my albums (filled and empty) are being stored at a friend's house from the Feb flood prep.   BUT did buy new albums (from HSN) and hopefully will be able to put those layouts in albums and finish any embellishing and get some pics...

Happy May to y'all...ain't it the best month EVER!  ha!!

April's subs and purchases...kinda...

Start with subs...

Scrapbook Circle,  pretty kit, showed both sides of the pp's...

 Gossamer Blue...also love it...

Bloom Box from Fun Stampers the dinosaurs, very useable with 3 grandsons.

purchased in March (so I was not on freeze at the time, but delivered in April)
from a Facebook Scrapbook Swap and Shop group...Stampin Up pens

A Cherry on Top....

And a friend was cleaning out her scraproom, ,  I had showed an interest in a larger die cutter/embosser so she offered me her old one...with all these dies...and  a bag, for $50....could not resist

I was supposed to be back on a no spend freeze for April, but that darn Facebook group...
cannot resist The Greeting Farm Anya, I am calling it an early birthday gift.

(she sent me the extra images and some page dots as a birthday them)

So, back on my freeze for April.. Just one little fall off the wagon...well, the diecutter was also an  April 2 falls off the wagon.  But back on.

May is a tough one, as it is my birthday month...and there is a crop coming up in 2 weeks.
Did I say crop!   I meant crop camp!  2 weeks!!  Started packing today.  Ooooooh my!!!!
I am only doing boy projects, so you pack less...don't need the bling, flowers, ribbon...right??? HA!!!

Got to scrap a little this past weekend,

and yes back on a spending freeze.  Probably just for the month of April.  Good news, for me, many of the things I ordered back in March are still on their way....ha!  Can't really freeze in May, it is my birthday month.

So, for April, I created my own little 'bash challenge' like the one on 2 Peas Refugees...Pretty much just grabbed 10 items I don't use very much and put in a basket...6x6 papers (I think they came as a freebie with an order from Etsy), a border punch, some chipboard, some Queen and Co retro looking sequins, outline stickers, paper clips, blue star pins, green sparklies and red (lips) eyelets.
I put them in this basket and keep them at hand.   AND

it worked!  I am using them!! I knew I would be working on Christmas 2015, so I also stamped up these images and kept them on hand.  I actually stumbled on this by accident.  While in Tahoe last December, I stamped up some images for grandkids to color.  They did not use all of them, so I kept those on my desk...and ended up using them.  So, did it again this month (think I will every month) as a way to USE my very extensive stamp collection.   In case you were wondering these are Newton's Nook.

This layout used the 6x6 pages and the bird outline sticker.   The green icicles were the borders pulled off the page for the glittery wish sticker (from last month's HSN purchase.  Just experimenting.

not a good pic, but can see I used the Queen and Company sparklies on the bottom left.  My brain cannot remember what that fused envelope thingy it is in is called.  (it is almost my bedtime)

This layout uses the border punch, (along the inside right) and one of the dachsund stamps

So I can say, 2015 is done for 3 out of 4 grandkids (#5 wasn't born till 2016)
one more!
But here is where I stopped.  I was really 'fighting" this combo of papers.  The solid color is a Navy
you can see the Navy better in the next page (my next pic)  under the burgandy.   I love the combo of gold/bugandy/navy...but for some reason could not make it work in the above page.

So had to walk away...give it fresh eyes later.

Well, gotta admit, worried about the weekend.  Guess some major storms are expected with some 50mph winds.  The river behind is is now down @5ft from it's highest in Feb.  So hopefully don't have to face any floods...but guess this is a good 'test run'.

shopping, maybe be back on freeze April 1...ha!

I have been enjoying my forays into scrapbook shopping.  Addicting, really

HSN...All Occassion Dazzles...blingy, shimmery, glittery stickers.  Will share most of them with the granddaughters.

Newton's nook stamps and dies (sorry pic is kinda dark)  Darn that Newton!  ha!!  I just LOVE these stamps.
Another HSN, We Are Memory Keeper's frame I decided to play with this one this afternoon....

It is kinda cool to make frames for pics...though I like matting also.  But sometimes I only have 1 piece of a pp...and since I scrapbook like a 2 pager, I gotta figure out a way to make that pp stretch.  Cuz I was unsure, I practiced with a brown cardstock.

So I was able to make a 1" frame from a 12x12 piece of paper...1" is the max...I would kinda like to make bigger frames, but can work with this.

and here is the innard.

kinda like the corners.

So here is the completed layout...inserting a pp into the frame.
3 of the pics are matted...while bottom right is another frame I made.  I liked it cuz it covered me...only part of my face is showing and I am wearing a hot pink shirt.  So between frame and turkey,I am covered and focus is on Kyleigh.

And though not yet glued down, this is the facing page.  Just flipped the pp for the green woodgrain and used that 'innard' from the frame punch under the pics.

Finding my Christmas embellies was a hoot.  They are all packed away in a bin...and it took awhile to figure out which bin.  But found them!  I haven't glued it down, cuz I am kinda hoping to find a Christmas embellie with a touch of orange to coordinate with the other page.  We will see.

So, yay! got a couple of pages done AND best of all played with a new toy!

March Subs and Club

and my spending freeze is off!   But I need to get back month, next month...ha!

Club, last month for a while...Stampin Up, admit, I went a little crazy, but the Sale A Bration is still going pfffft.  love that corally color...

Jouney Bloom Box...this month it is about 'puns'.   Thinking it will be good cards for the guys, esp. DH

Gossamer Blue, the goodies

and the cards...  Some on 2 Peas Refugees (there is a thread about G.B) don't like the pink...but I LOVE these colors.  And just love that even the goodies are original to  GB.   LOVE LOVE LOVE

Scrapbook Circle is extra fun this month.

even love the 'b' side.  To me a very useable kit.

okay, also been shopping but don't have all the pics.   My scraproom is still a mess...but hoping to spend some time creating this weekend.   I get to babysit this Livermore, so hoping to do a bit of shopping...can we say Home Goods and Kohls this afternoon.

We reconnected with old friends.  We had lost touch with, but not really.  (does that make sense?).   It has been years since we last sat down with them, but last night we had dinner together and it was like we had seen each other yesterday.  Facebook helps!  We have been keeping up through FB.  BUT so good to see them and talk with them again.

I did get to do a bit of crafting for last weekend's birthday party for my grandson, Jase.

Dd and Ddil finished it off with the streamers and balloons.

okay, toodles!! have a great weekend...I plan to!  ha!!!

couldn't take it much longer...

I missed my scraproom sooooo much.  Then a couple of weekends ago, a friend and longtime resident of this town (he has been here over 50 years, grew up here), told us that our 'lake' could be out there till May or June.   May or June!   The river has been sitting at @49'.  Not rising...but not going down significantly either.

So, this week, I started bringing some of my scrap stuff, the stuff packed like I was going to a crop, back home.

So, here it is..semi set up.  We still may face a flood.  If the snow packs (which are at 170% of normal, does a fast melt).  So, it is still at a 'ready' to be packed up quickly.   The rest of the room is still 'up'.  It is sooooo difficult, I just want to unpack and get my room normal!

Yup, it is a mess.  But hopefully a workable mess. But to me, a beautiful mess.

I did work on a project on Sunday, some decor for dgs #1's birthday party.

I am liking the table that come out of the wall...and that may stay.  Or something similar. Wouldn't it be great to have a true island, that I can park the carts under.
(thinking cap)

Yes, some people, even when their scraproom is packed up awaiting a potential flood, will still go to Expo.   This week the river is hanging at 49' (52 is flood) and though it has been dry and going the right direction...we will wait to see how the snow melts affect the river before we go back to 'normal'.

So, what does  said person do with all her purchases?  There is no where to put them in her room?  Why, she leaves them in the bag so she can take them to Crop Camp!  duh!

Though I usually go to crop..that did not work out this year. (still hoping for Santa Clara).   But, my dgd, Adriana went with me for a shopping morning.  LOVED it!  I can't wait till she is old enough to crop.  When we walked into the Expo, she told me, I love shopping like this!   Yup, me too!

The cool thing about going with a 7 year old, is she did want to stop and do the make and takes.  I usually skip them, I'm too busy cropping and shopping.  But guess what, the vendors sure do know good tips about working with the tools.    I had given her some money to spend, as a thank you for helping us out with the sandbagging.  She is very frugal when it is her money.  ha!!  (Dave Ramsey principles in action).

Copic blending tips

This man was wonderful, she spent $4 for the make n take...I spent over $40 for the tools and glue, but I can now put crystals and tiny sequins on my crafts!!  Sparkle!!!

My haul, first time with the paper PhotoPlay...and I LOVE it!  Hope they are in Santa Clara.  Of Course, more Echo Park and Queen and Company..(dgd and I will share the flairs and blingy letters).  Not pictured, I bought a few items at Queen for my other dgd, who at age 3, was a little too young for a day at Expo.  And dgd's purchases.

After 4 hours of shopping, we did take a french fry break halfway, my Missy was pooped.  We are at the Corner Bakery waiting for our pasta.   oooooh, that Pesto Cavatoppi !! she had a marinara linguine.

I got to see most of my scrap buddies, except one, she was in classes.   Overall a fun exhausting day!
