weekend catch up...and some organizing too

Was able to finish some of the pocket pages from Expo over the weekend...this one, I know doesn't have a lot of scrapping going on...but I was sooo proud, cuz i finally used one of my hamster stickers!!

this one I did quite a bit...adding the washi, the cow and the card...kinda low on pics on this page....

and this is one of my faves...but cannot post all of  it cuz dgd is just wearing a diaper...guess she is dressed Indiana country style.  but I did love the mason jar paper and the stamps. (Newton's Nook)

I still have blank spaces in my pockets, but guess as I do more of them, I will get better at it.

I was inspired by a thread on 2 peas to re-organize my kits.  I have been subscribing for years.  First it was Bad Girls, till she stopped (siiiigh, I loved those kits) Now it is Scrapbook Circle which I also love, her taste is what I like...before I had them stored in these oversize bins...

found these on Walmart.com.  They are sized 14x14 so Iris bins fit in them!
Now they are catagorized by 'brands' (Teresa Collin, Sassafrass kits) feminine, neutral, themes, and masculine.  With one bin fairly open...right now it has packs that have multiples of one sheet.  I don't buy many of those, but did pick up a couple at last Expo.  I do like to keep my kits together, as when I pull them out to use, I like that they have embellies already pre-done for me.
This last area is then next to be tackled, At Expo I started dgs's 1st book...so need to work on finishing those layouts.  I use the center table in my room as a catch all for current project.
The piles, containers and even Iris cases on the floor are all baby boy stuff.  Still need to work on this process.   But it is next.

'fess up Friday, a day late...ha!

I've decided to do a 'fess up Fridays for my scrapbook shopping.  I was doing sooooooo good in 2015, then Expo opened a floodgate of shopping...before, during and now after.  So I figure if I log it, have to see it, maybe I'll slow it down.  So, 'fess up Friday for the week ending Friday Aug 21...

Amazon had these MME cards on sale...from @ $3 to $4...so of course had to pick up a few packs.
But look, even as I took the pic of the purchase, I had a layout that I could use one on!  Now that layout pictured is not yet glued down (I wasn't sure about the yellow)...but that Memories card did work!

There was a thread on 2 peas refugees about taking apart your kits, and someone linked in about these for storage...not sure if they will work for me for kit storage, esp at @$9 for a pair...but thinking good for kit taking to crops....and this upcoming crop, I do need to pack 'kits' as I am not going to have much space.

And of course, Newton's Nook...siiiiiigh.   I have a Newton addiction.  I mean isn't the business card they sent adorable.   "Hope you enjoy getting your paws inky"...so picked up their dies that go with a stamp set I have...and of course mermaid stamps.  I seem to have an addiction for all things mermaid these days.

And here is a b-day card I made with another mermaid stamp set.  The one I got at expo...though the fintastic birthday sentiment came from Newton.  The colors are copic, except the tail..that is Spectrum Noir... and the background is gelatos...I do love them gelatos.   One Expo class I am really glad I took.

And used mermaids on these layouts.  Same pic going in each of the granddaughter's books.

the one on the left is Mermaid Anya...and the other is one I got at Expo...can't think of the name...sooo cute!

Pocket Pages from Friday Expo

At Expo, I like to bring a different project per day.  Maybe I have a slight case of scrappin' ADD and would get bored with 3 days of the same project.  Day one was my oldest dgd's 2014 book and Friday, Day 2 was Kyleigh (dgd#2) 2014 book.  I am doing her in a partial regular 12x12 and pocket pages...Dgd's #1's first year was 3 books ...so I am hoping if I do pocket pages, I get more pics in less pages.  So far, I seem to be doing okay with it...only one book so far, and I am in October.

This was the first I did over the weekend from a trip to Oregon, needs some journaling

this is full pocket pages.  I find I take more time doing these than regular.  But I should use more of the cards made for pocket pages, and then maybe I will take less time.  I sure buy enough.

While at Expo, had the chance to use some tools at the tool station.  Used the Cricut, I bring my own matt, but only once.  This is one of the first crops where I did not use the cricut a lot.  But my Gypsy is broken, I cannot get the images to size...note to self, see if it can be fixed.  siiiiigh

Also used the wireless photo printer, Canon Selphy...wow it was so cool.  I have an Android, so had to download and App, set up the wireless and printed my pic.  It is the one of my grandson you can see in the blog header.  If only I had wireless at home, I would seriously consider it.  (I know so dark ages, only landlines at home)

But I did buy myself, from Amazon after the crop, a new embosser... Cuttlebug...wanted to use one at Expo, but one of the plates 'walked away'...but I did watch the volunteer use the electronic embosser.

I looked around the Expo, but could not find any for sale.  Got this because I am still on the old red Sizzex at home...hoping this is more portable ... I've only embossed, not cut yet,  I do like it so far...

This weekend my grandaughters came over and we did a li'l crafting.  I have a small table set up for Kyleigh, the younger...but she made an 'executive decision' and moved her stuff to my workstation...guess she likes the pink rolling chair.

As long as she was 'crafting' I did not mind, okay, I did not mind at all...she is too adorable to get mad at...plus she did play with stickers.

and here is the page Adriana made...she prefers to take a pic and surround it with stickers, stickles and bling...

Okay, next post will post some pics of the pages I made for dgs #1's new book.  Finally started!

EXPO!!! Part 1

What a terrific weekend, though I 'overpacked' as usual.  Seriously, it took me two trips to the car...1 wagon, 2 XL totes and several bags.  And another trip with hotel stuff...so on Thursday, I got my workout going to.

And Saturday, got my work out...packing up.  On Saturday, had to add another trip to car...as with the shopping, one does always leave with more than you bring.

My car as I was leaving, this is just first layer in the back...also had stuff in front seat and one of the back seats...left the other open, as I was taking dgs to his parent's work on the way to the Expo.

My workstation Saturday evening...

Thursday night is the make and take type of crop, several vendors give you a project to make...to highlight their product.   I admit toward the end of the evening, I stopped doing the projects.  It was my first chance to create all year, and I really wanted to concentrate on doing layouts.

My first scrapbook layout in 2015

Thurs night concentrated on my dgd Adriana's book...starting with the trip we took to Oregon
the following Layout is a fave...just love the pic of her and her sis on the driftwood 'throne'...and the Mermaid Anya stamp is a fave ..she is from The Greeting Farm...Which reminds me, I want to order Kimono Anya (she was not in the booth this year)

Even though one packs a ton of Embellies...you still don't have enough, so the layout below needs to be completed at home.  But got the basics done.

and cuz you gotta, here are the purchases.  Now because of make and take, also had a bag of projects...  MY purchases.  Every year I like to get an Anya stamp, a Sherri Baldy My-Besties stamp, and stamps from Rubbernecker..just love the booth.  (Rubbernecker are the stretchy cat, and bird stamps)  An I sub to The Stamps of Life, but I like to stop by the booth each year to get the dies and completer for a fave set...this year it was the whales.

This was from one of the projects I did do...it had the yellow..Chalk Writers...at $3 each, I HAD to get more!!

One of my addiction is paper collections.  the bottom 3 are Authentique...let's just say, in my storage, I am starting a new Authentique space...and Simple Stories

My friend Nancy loves to go to the booth where you can buy packs of pp (the same design) for $4 each...and then the price goes down the more paper you buy.. This year they had October Afternoon and Echo Park... I did break down and buy 2 packs of them...on the bottom of this pic...the rest, Nancy shared a couple of pages from her packs with me.  (she bought over 40).  Yes, she does realize this is an addiction.  But to her credit she knew how much space she had on her shelf .

And I will call this "Winners and Losers"

This is my 'winner', won this as a door prize in the one class I took ....

"losers'...the one class I took.  It was the Latest and Greatest Pocket Page class...$47
Got over $80 in product...a 3x4 punch (which I had so I gave it to Nancy)...Echo Park calander set (which I kind of Liked)  and then 2 other sets...Prima (liked the cards, thought pack with feathers and chipboard was gaudy)  Like the You and Me set  (but only had a couple of pages)(not the complete collection)

...but the projects in the class...siiiiiiiigh, it was one of those set projects that you follow along.  One was a mini album using 3x4 cards.  In bottom corner, cute and bright enough...so okay...then the "pocket page' was top corner...about food?  and gave us the project sheet to follow which was basically cutting down the card page and inserting...what?  For one this does not look like the project advertised.  So I felt cheated by this 'class'.   Very disappointed.  And $47 down the drain.

Okay, gotta go to bed, work day starts early tomorrow.  Hopefully can work on Part 2...and post some pics of some of those layouts.  The next couple of days, worked on the other grandbabies first year book, and these are a combo of 12x12 and pocket page layouts.
